Love Poems

You’ve sparked the fire
It’s roaring hot
My loins are burning
I’ll forget you not

You smiled, you spoke and I believed,
By every word and smile – deceived.
Another man would hope no more;
Nor hope I – what I hoped before.

If not for sweet birdsong in tree and bush
How plain the spring seasons headlong rush
If not for the daffodils trumpets of gold
How sad the passage to new from old
If not for your sweet presence by my side
Spring would hold no joy, as sadness would reside
